The Media Union of Montenegro sharply condemns threats made to M portal

The Media Syndicate Montenegro strongly condemns the threats sent to the m portal, which have been continuously for almost 11 months, although they are reported from the starting authorities.

According to this portal, as they add from the SMCG, while the police identified the person who sent threats from the prosecution still no adequate reaction.

We invite the responsible that all measures and activities take on the perpetrator, but also all others, adequately saw and send a message that such behavior towards the media and their employees are unacceptable.

This is, as they add, the tenth attack that the Montenegrin's union registered in the first seven months of this year and unfortunately indicates the trend of growth online threats and disturbance of journalists and media houses.

Online violence over media workers is a very dangerous phenomenon, which enables everyone to have all the texts, most often due to disagreements with editorial policy, amount to different insults and threats to the media employees. Disagreement with editorial policy should never be the reason for threats, insults and attacks on journalists and media organizations - they said.

The Union of the Media of Montenegro, during the last year, registered 28 attacks and threats to journalists and the media, of which even over a third, ie 12, came from an online space.
