The MIA will check Spajic's citizenship

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) has requested that the State Election Commission (SEC) provide it with all the information it has about the leader of the Europe Now Movement, Milojko Spajić, announced the Director General of the Directorate for Citizenship and Foreigners in the MUP, Radovan Popović.
The Republican Electoral Commission of Serbia previously submitted to the SEC a document stating that Spajić, who announced his candidacy in the presidential elections, resides in Belgrade.
After the SEC submits the requested document, we will contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia to get proof from them as to whether that person has Serbian citizenship and when he acquired it - Popović told Montenegro Television.
As he explained, if it turns out that Spajić has dual citizenship, further action depends on when he acquired it.
If it is after June 3, 2006, then the person will be asked to make a statement about which citizenship he wants to keep. He will have the opportunity to choose - Popović said, Portal RTCG reports.
He said that the procedure will be the same for all potential candidates who are suspected of having the citizenship of another country.
