The new, old majority in the new "undertaking" of moving Montenegro away from the EU

The Social Democrats of Montenegro (SD) announced that the new-old majority is in a new "venture" to distance Montenegro from the European Union (EU).
"After hastily adopting anti-systemic and anti-European changes to the Law on Civil Servants and Employees at the beginning of last year and receiving clear criticism from the European Commission for this in last year's report of the European Commission, where it was pointed out that the mentioned changes were adopted without adequate consultation and ensuring compliance with the legal acquis EU, and again in this year's Report for Montenegro, where it is explicitly stated: "The reduced requirements introduced by these changes are a source of constant concern regarding employment based on merit, competence and independence of civil servants. Moreover, the draft amendments to the Law on Local Self-Government would reduced such demands at the local level in a similar way", MPs of the new, old, renewed majority embarked on another anti-European campaign", reads the announcement of the SD.
They remind that on December 10, that is, two days before the start of the new session of the Parliament, they are proposing changes to the Law on Local Self-Government in the same anti-systemic and anti-European key, and they are asking for an amendment to the agenda of the said session with that item.
"Of course, once again deliberately skipping the public debate and the opinion of the European Commission, even though they know that the mentioned laws are part of one of the key chapters (clusters) on the path of Montenegro's accession to the EU. The fact that for the umpteenth time they ignore clear warnings from the EU, suggestions and opinions of the civil sector shows that the European profiling of certain parties is only on a rhetorical level", concludes the SD.
