The reunion of the Swedish ambassador and the baby he saved: Friends for life

At the end of March, Swedish MP Adnan Dibrani was in Montenegro to participate in meetings with the Council of Europe. During his walk, he saw a woman and a baby floating on the Morača River.
Together with three other men, he managed to save the life of a little boy.
After the incident, Adnan Dibrani had contact with the boy's family, but he never met them in person. But now, about three months later, he returns to the capital of Montenegro, Podgorica, to meet the boy and his family.
I had to see the baby again and hold him for the first time since then. He was perfectly healthy and alert and wanted to look around and run around freely. He was laughing all the time. It was really nice to see him again, says Dibrani.
Speaking about the meeting, Dibrani says that the boy's family was also happy because of the meeting.
The family was very happy. They were so grateful for this. It's surreal, both for me and for them.
He says that Dibrani was surprised by the fact that people in Montenegro recognize him.
The first thing that happened when I landed and got into the taxi was that the taxi driver asked, 'Are you the one who saved the baby?'
Every day, he adds, three or four people who recognized him contacted him.
Adnan Dibrani remembers the day he saved the boy. The memory remained deeply affected.
I'm trying to explain it like this, that when you have children, you wait for that first sound that only children can make. When he made that sound that day, I got so much adrenaline, because then I knew he was alive and breathing again. That is the strongest memory of the event itself - he said.
When asked if he thinks the boy remembers this event, he says that when he talked to him - he laughed.
His parents said they thought he recognized my voice. When I brought him back to life, I started talking to him in Swedish. To make him concentrate on the sound and on me. Maybe this voice recognizes her since then, says Adnan Dibrani.
The boy is now about five months old. Adnan Dibrani describes the boy as a little friend he has in Montenegro.
I think I will follow this little one for the rest of my life - he concludes.
