They are waiting for Television Day to present a new visual identity

Chief producer RTCG director Gojko Berkuljan, who, along with program promotion manager Jov Vukčević, was on the jury in front of the Public Service, did not want to confirm for Pobjeda whether the first-ranked solution in the recently concluded contest for the new logo of that media company, which he published on Instagram , and soon removed by one of the co-authors, which irresistibly resembles the visual identity of one of Google's services, authentically.
Based on the international contest for the selection of a unique visual solution for the RTCG logo, with a prize fund of 22,500 euros, the first-ranked solution by co-authors Orin Ivan Vrkaš and Marko Vilipić in front of the Zagreb company "Ivorin atelier" for which they will receive 16,000 euros.
Banja Luka co-authors Aleksa Doveden and Milutin Meksić, in front of the company "Forma plus", ranked second, and Slobodan Jovanović's solution from Belgrade ranked third. Prizes in the amount of 4,000 and 2,500 euros are provided for second and third place.
Jury and ranking
The members of the competition jury were graphic designer from Montenegro Nikola Bada Radonjić as president, graphic designer Slavimir Stojanović Futro, film producer Jelena Mišeljić, graphic designer and illustrator Mirko Ilić, graphic designer Orsat Franković, chief producer RTCG, director Gojko Berkuljan and program promotion manager RTCG Jovo Vukčević.
The international public competition was announced on August 28 and lasted until October 6, following the adoption of the rebalancing of the financial plan of RTCG, which was adopted by the Public Service Council on June 22, and which allocated 35,000 euros for the competition for the new logo.
As previously announced by RTCG, the jury evaluated the solutions in two rounds. In the first round held on October 17, the jury formed an unranked list of the most successful solutions that qualified for the second round, while the second round was held on October 24, in which the participants defended their solutions before the jury.
General Director of RTCG Boris Raonic a day later made a decision on the selection of the three best-ranked solutions. The president of the jury said earlier that 43 authors with 45 works applied for the competition, and candidates from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Hungary were registered.
What is known to the public for now is thanks to the fact that one of the co-authors of the first-ranked solution, Orin Ivan Vrkaš, as revealed by Podgorica designer Nikola Latković on his Linkedin profile, published the award-winning solution on Instagram, but also very quickly removed it from that platform. and that it irresistibly resembles the logo of the Google software OR-Tools.
Berkuljan, when asked by Pobjeda to confirm whether it is an authentic solution for which Vrkaš and Vilipić were awarded 16,000 euros, said that the expert jury will soon present its opinion on this and all other related issues, which will be available to the public.
Presentation
Although the decision on the selection of the three best solutions was made ten days ago, RTCG still did not allow the public to view the awarded solutions on its platforms.
RTCG explains this with the desire to organize the presentation of a new visual identity for Television Day, November 27.
Just as it is customary every year on Television Day to look back on the representative things we have done and achieved in the past year, as well as to present to the public our plans for the future, so we wanted to use that day to present in detail the vision of the new visual RTCG identity. As part of the ceremony on the occasion of Television Day on November 27, a detailed presentation of the first-ranked solution was planned as the central event, and for the accompanying event there was an idea to organize an exhibition of all received solutions that met the formal conditions for participation. We simply wanted to make a rich and representative event out of the outcome of the competition - said Berkuljan.
From his answer to the question of how many finalists there were in the second round, in the so-called to the unranked list of the most successful, which was formed on October 17, it follows that already in the first round, 42 offered solutions "failed", of which 21 were solutions by Montenegrin authors.
As defined in the competition text, the competition jury makes a decision by consensus, and the unanimous opinion of the jury was that the three solutions deserved to enter the second round of the competition due to their quality. In order to obtain as objective a picture of the quality of the submitted works as possible, the RTCG insisted that the profession take the lead, as can be seen from the structure and references of the majority of the jury - said Berkuljan.
Control mechanism
To the question of what mechanisms RTCG used in the process of choosing a solution, in order to protect against plagiarism, and whether the Public Service sought the opinion of the Directorate for Intellectual Property on the issue of absolute and relative reasons that can prevent the international registration of the chosen logo as a trademark, Berkuljan said that what the jury cannot, nor is it able and obliged to do, is check the authenticity of the offered solutions.
Authors are the ones who are obliged to guarantee with a statement that the solution they are applying with is an authentic author's work, and that statement is, in a formal sense, one of the most important competition documents. RTCG's intention to improve its services and make its contents available on a wider range of channels inevitably brings with it the issue of adaptation of visual elements that will be an integral part of these cross-platforms. In this regard, we needed a solution that, with its compactness and modularity, would respond to the task of wide application - said Berkuljan.
He said that due to the new situation "which deeply shook the public", the competition jury organized an extraordinary session, from which the conclusions will be available to the public as soon as possible.
