Varcheli: Montenegro on the door of the negotiations

The European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varcheli announced that the intergovernmental conference in June Montenegro will lead to the final phase of the accession negotiations with the European Union (EU), TVCG.

He, at the Forum in Sofia, pointed out that our country at the door of the final part of the negotiations.

There are more benchmarks that Montenegro needs to fulfill. We have a new government in Montenegro and a new political construction that started delivering them - said the European Commissioner in the Forum "EU meets the Balkans", which is being held in Sofia today.

He emphasized that "it doesn't matter how little decision is", but that everything must be passed now.

Varethelji pointed out that it is in the vital interest of the EU to reach its extension as soon as possible and that the next convocation of the European Commission should be greeted by new members at the end of its mandate.

He added that it is clear that the geopolitical landscape changed over the last three years, especially from the Russian agesia in Ukraine, Kovid Crisis ...

Extension has to happen, it's clear. From vital interres, it is to expand as soon as possible, and we are busy here to welcome new EU members. The door is taken and we can achieve the necessary reforms - he said.

He also said that he is currently nine candidate countries, from which they are already negotiating, and three have a green light for that.
