The former director of the Police Administration, Veselin Veljović, was urgently transported to the Clinical Center, his defense attorney Mihailo Volkov confirmed to Pobjeda.
As he said, Veljović is in a serious state of health.
Volkov stated that in recent days Veljović's condition has significantly worsened, which, he adds, has been pointed out several times.
- We have been pointing out for months that his state of health is at risk, but it seems that nobody in this country cares about the state of health of detainees in the Remand Prison - Volkov told Pobjeda.
Veljović was arrested on July 24, 2023.
He is accused of becoming a member of a criminal organization in 2020 that was formed by Aleksandar Mrkić in 2018 for cigarette smuggling and money laundering.
Veljović is specifically accused of informing Mrkić on December 25, 2020 that the police would search the premises used by Mujo Nikočević, a member of his criminal organization.
