Why are UP and ANB now denying their own information?

POBJEDA
Two days after the session of the Security Committee closed to the public, where on July 29 the information that the liquidation of former Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović was being prepared, the Police Directorate and the National Security Agency issued a joint statement claiming that it is not true that Đukanović was threatened with assassination.
(Un)clear announcement
"The data obtained as part of the international cooperation of the National Security Agency indicate that the foreign intelligence services, that is, the intelligence community, is not the source of the information that an assassination is being prepared in relation to the former president of the country, and as it was stated in certain media, that is, it follows the conclusion that the information published in certain media on this occasion is not accurate," the announcement states.
It should be noted that the Police Directorate, as part of international operational police cooperation, also carried out a check but did not receive the mentioned information, that is, such information was not submitted to the Police Directorate as part of international police operational cooperation.
"In this regard, the information that the former President of Montenegro is being threatened is not true," the UP and ANB press release concludes, noting that the media reports before and after the session of the Security Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro are incorrect.
Although the announcement was supposed to serve to accurately inform the public, ANB and UP failed to inform that they received the information about the planning of the assassination of the former Montenegrin president precisely from Milo Đukanović's cabinet, with a reference to a high-ranking Western intelligence officer stationed in Kosovo.
Untruths exposed
According to ETV Portal, ANB officials received the information on July 5, but only forwarded it to the top of the Police Directorate on July 13.
Đukanović's cabinet was then informed that a group from Serbia, including former officers of the Serbian Army, planned to have the former Montenegrin president liquidated by members of a criminal clan from Shkodër, in order to cover up the trail of the perpetrator of the crime but also to cover up political motives.
Official of the Democratic Party of Socialists Miloš Nikolić reacted fiercely to the claims from ANB and UP.
"Today's joint announcement by the National Security Agency and the Police Administration regarding the threat to the former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, in which they denied their own allegations from a month ago, is another confirmation of the chaotic situation in the security sector," said the DPS spokesperson.
Nikolić states that the National Security Agency is still on July 13. Three weeks ago, they informed the public that they had operational information about the preparation of the assassination of former President Đukanović, while the Police Directorate stated on the same day that they did not have such information, that is, that ANB had not informed them about it.
"What is particularly indicative is the fact that the Agency not only did not forward this information to the Police Directorate in a timely manner, but the security of Đukanović was further reduced in those days," says Nikolić.
Who does ANB really work for?
According to ETV Portal, ANB officials received the information on July 5, and only on July 13 did they forward it to the top of the Police Administration. The Montenegrin police announced on July 14 that they had increased security measures for Đukanović after it was announced in the media that he was being assassinated.
Agency director Boris Milić confirmed that ANB has operational data on the planning of the assassination of Đukanović during the meeting of the Security Committee, but then he expressed dissatisfaction that Đukanović's security officer did not follow the notification procedure.
"The Montenegrin police and the National Security Agency did not make any institutional mistakes in relation to the report that the assassination of the former President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović was being prepared, said on July 29 the director of the police, Zoran Brđanin, after the end of the control hearing of the Security and Defense Committee of the Parliament Montenegro.
Measures and countermeasures
Committee President Miodrag Laković said that after the session, they received more information "in the case of the persons mentioned and those criminal groups" and now we have a bigger picture.
The Montenegrin police announced on July 14 that they had increased security measures for Đukanović after it was announced in the media that he was being assassinated. The day before, the Police Directorate announced that - there is no information about the assassination.
Numerous politicians outside Montenegro were alarmed by the news of the assassination of Milo Đukanović.
"The news about the planning of the assassination of the historic and visionary leader of Montenegro, former president Milo Đukanović, is very worrying for peace and stability in our region. Behind these plans are those who failed in the coup d'état project a few years ago, who failed with the border change projects, those who seek to undermine the Euro-Atlantic future of Montenegro and the region. They are the ones who executed the former pro-European prime minister of Serbia, the late Zoran Đinđić," wrote the former president of Albania, Ilir Meta, on Facebook.
After today's announcement by the National Security Agency and the Police Directorate, it is still not clear: were they telling the truth when, after July 13, they raised the level of security for Đukanović or today when they claim that there was never a threat to the life of the former President of Montenegro?
