Ryan Wesley Raut (58), suspected of attempted murder and planning to assassinate the former president and current Republican candidate in the American elections, Donald Trump, was arrested, according to the media.
At the time of his arrest, he was completely calm and showed no emotion, said William D. Snyder, the sheriff of Marin County, Florida, where Raut was arrested.
"He was relatively calm, and at no point did he ask the officers why he was being arrested," Snyder said.
The FBI is investigating the incident as an "attempted murder."
CNN's chief intelligence analyst John Miller said Raut's social media accounts focused on his "self-proclaimed involvement" in the war in Ukraine, including his alleged attempt to recruit soldiers to fight on the Ukrainian side.
Miller said Raut lives in Hawaii and was previously a construction worker in North Carolina, where he has a "thick" record.
Allegedly, he was previously arrested as many as eight times, mostly for minor offenses.
In March 2023, Raut spoke to the New York Times about his efforts to recruit American soldiers.
The New York Times then established that Raut "spent several months in Ukraine last year and that he plans to move American volunteers to Ukraine via Pakistan and Iran."
He also said at the time that dozens of Americans had shown interest.
"Most likely we can buy some passports through Pakistan since it is a very corrupt country," Raut claimed in an interview published on the New York Times website on March 25, 2023.
In June 2022, according to the American Newsweek, Rauth also spoke with the Romanian branch of Newsweek, also about efforts to recruit volunteers to the International Defense Legion of Ukraine, a unit of the Ukrainian ground forces.
