Gjenero: The ban on entry into Croatia was brought by official Zagreb in consultation with Brussels

ANTENNA M
In a statement for Anten M, Croatian political analyst Davor Gjenero explains that Andrija Mandić, Aleksa Bečić and Milan Knežević were not banned from entering the Republic of Croatia by official Zagreb without consultation with Brussels. Those consultations, he adds, are informal but very important, and he emphasizes that Croatia has long considered "pathogens" of the party whose leaders it declared persona non grata yesterday.
"Such decisions, which also refer to joint European policies, are never made without consultation with partners. Was it discussed with the partners about the measure of declaring the three heads of political parties of a pro-Serbian or Greater Serbian orientation as undesirable in the Republic of Croatia in the Parliament of Montenegro? I can tell you for sure, but these measures have certainly been discussed with European partners," says Gjenero.
The interlocutor of Antena M states that such consultations within the EU are conducted at the level of government ministers and the representatives of that country themselves.
"Informal communications within the EU take place constantly at the level of the Prime Minister, ministers, but also at the level of assistant ministers," he explains.
The former diplomat recalls that Croatia had reservations about Aleksa Bečić's policy before, and that in this sense it is not surprising that he was also banned from entering the Republic of Croatia.
"This is a clear message about how the Croatian administration treats the current ruling coalition. The three parties are considered anti-European parties and completely pathogenic, and there is no trust in the other members of the coalition. If you know that the decision was made just after the former Democratic Front entered and formally to Spajić's cabinet, then you know that it is not a coincidence. And when it comes to Bečić, Croatia has had strong reservations about any form of conversation with ministers coming from Bečić's party," Gjenero points out.
Earlier today, the European Commission replied to Antena M that it is the sovereign right of the authorities of the Republic of Croatia to decide who can enter that country, but they did not specifically answer whether Andrija Mandić, Aleksa Bečić and Milan Knežević were immediately banned from entering EU or Schengen countries.
It was explained to Antena M yesterday that it depends on Zagreb's decision to (not) put the names of three politicians from Montenegro in the SIS - Schengen Information System.
