Poland declares a state of natural disaster due to floods, will ask for EU help

Poland is introducing a state of natural disaster due to torrential floods in the southwest and south of the country after the heavy rains brought to Central Europe by Cyclone Boris, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk decided.
"We will also ask for help from the European Union. No one will be left to fend for themselves," said Prime Minister Tusk, who has been visiting the most vulnerable areas with some of the ministers since Friday.
In these floods, unlike the previous devastating ones in 1997 and 2010, the problem is not the biggest rivers, but the mountain streams, rivulets and smaller rivers that the ordinary Pole often does not even know the name of, which have turned into torrents, as Polish meteorologists say. into monsters, destroy bridges, breach dams and embankments, take away houses and flood one town after another in the valleys in southwestern and southern Poland.
"The most difficult situation is in the Voivodeship of Lower Silesia and the Opole Voivodeship. The biggest help is needed in the Klod Basin. All forces of the fire brigade, police and army were engaged. We transferred the helicopters that are evacuating people in the Klodska basin. A different evacuation is not possible," said the Polish Minister of Defense Vladislav Košnjak-Kamiš.
