Russian President Vladimir Putin said in Vladivostok that Moscow expects Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to come to the Russian city of Kazan in the autumn, for the summit of the BRICS group.
"Convey greetings to President Vučić, we are waiting for him at events within the BRICS leaders' meeting. We sent him an invitation, we hope Mr. President will accept it," Putin said at the beginning of the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin.
At the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, Putin also told Vulin that there had been a slight decline in trade between Russia and Serbia and pointed out the need to understand the causes of this change.
Putin said that "it is probably time to hold a meeting" of the Intergovernmental Committee for Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between Serbia and Russia, the Russian agency RIA Novosti reported.
Putin pointed out that Russia plays a "significant role" in the supply of energy to Serbia and pointed out that deliveries are made on time and under very good conditions.
"We will also talk about that, there are specific things that need to be resolved, bearing in mind that our gas supply contracts expire in March 2025," the Russian leader added.
