The number of victims of the attack in Lviv is growing, among those killed is a mother and her three children

The latest attacks on Ukrainian cities come just a day after Russia hit a military institute in the central Ukrainian city of Poltava with two ballistic missiles in the deadliest single attack of the war this year, killing at least 50 people and wounding hundreds more.
In this morning's attack by hypersonic rockets and drones on Lviv, seven people were killed, including three children, said the mayor of that city, Andrij Sadovij. One of the children killed was a baby.
In Lviv, Ukrainian parliamentarian Oleksiy Goncharenko reports, almost an entire family was killed. "Russia killed almost an entire family today in Lviv. Only the man in this photo is alive. His wife and three daughters died in their own home," he wrote.
According to the mayor, fifteen people were transferred to local hospitals after the attack.
Several buildings near the main train station caught fire after the impact. At least two schools will not open their doors today, says the mayor. Rescue teams are at the scene of the attack.
The Ukrainian Air Force previously warned of the threat of drone and missile attacks in several regions of Ukraine, including the Lviv region.
Lviv, located approximately 540 kilometers (about 335 miles) west of Kiev, remains among the frequent targets of Russian drone and missile attacks. The city is about 70 kilometers east of the Polish border.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published photos of the consequences of this morning's attack on Lviv.
Along with Lviv in the west, the Russians also shelled the capital city of Kiev. Witnesses told Reuters they heard several explosions on the outskirts of Kiev and that it sounded like air defense systems had been activated.
The Poles raised the planes
Polish and allied planes were flown early this morning for the third time in eight days to ensure the safety of Polish airspace following Russian attacks on Ukraine, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced.
"This is another very busy night for the entire air defense system in Poland due to the observed activity of long-range aircraft of the Russian Federation carrying out attacks," the Polish command said on the X social network.
