Ukrainian army: Russia launched a major attack on cities across the country with drones and rockets

The Ukrainian Air Force announced this morning that Russia attacked Kiev and other cities across Ukraine with drones and cruise and ballistic missiles.

Several series of explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital early this morning, causing residents to rush to shelters, AP reports.

Mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klitschko said that the emergency services were called to Holosiivska and Solomyan areas in Kyiv. One person was allegedly injured in the Shevchenkivskiy area, Klitschko added.

"There will be answers for everything. The enemy will feel it," announced the head of the presidential office Andrij Jermak on Telegram after the attack.

According to the air force, Russia fired several groups of cruise missiles towards Kiev, followed by the launch of ballistic missiles and several drones.

Explosions also echoed in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian media.

The major strike came a day after the Russian military announced it had intercepted and destroyed 158 Ukrainian drones targeting multiple Russian regions in one of the largest attacks since the start of the war.
