AUTHOR: M.J.
The Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR announced that next year's Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Basel or Geneva. The final decision on the city that will host the European musicians will be made by the end of August.
The list of potential Eurovision Song Contest host cities has been narrowed down to two - the competition will be held in Basel or Geneva, the Swiss public service SRG SSR announced, as reported by RTS.
Apart from those two cities, Zurich has expressed interest in organizing the biggest music competition in the world, and a joint offer from Bern and Biel has also been submitted.
Interested cities were given a deadline of the end of June to send offers, and they were required to send information about the hall, public transport plan, sustainability of the competition, available hotel facilities, security, the issue of waste disposal, as well as ideas about how visitors would experience the competition in their city.
The final decision on the host city will be made by the end of August.
Switzerland recorded their third victory at this year's competition in Malmö thanks to Nemo and the song The Code.
The first Eurovision Song Contest was held in Switzerland - Lugano hosted contestants from eight countries in 1956, and the second time European musicians gathered in Switzerland was in Lausanne in 1989, when Yugoslavia recorded its only victory at the competition.
